Semantic Echoes

Semantic Echoes is a series of 15 postcards which seek to challenge how we percieve the English language.

These postcards quantify the emotional perception of words through three scales: Valence, the positivity or negativity of the emotion, Arousal, the intensity of the emotion, and Dominance, the sense of control or power over the emotion. The scales come from VAD Analysis, a concept borrowed from Computational Linguistics. Using these dimensions, each scale dictates the form of the animation.

These dynamic abstractions are indicative of the strong nuances in the English language that cannot be put into words.
